MEET YOUR DOCTOR
Dr. Velasquez knew she wanted to become a physician when she was only 10 years old. When she was in a bicycle accident, she discovered her curiosity for medicine and realized she wanted to provide care for others as they did for her. This passion has fueled her to where she is today.
Dr. Velasquez attended medical school and completed an Internal Medicine residency program in her native country of Colombia. She then completed a second residency in family practice at Oregon Health and Science University. In 2004, she decided to establish her own practice near the heart of downtown Austin. Her practice focuses on Internal Medicine and she maintains admitting privileges at St. David's Medical Center.
Patients commend Dr. Velasquez on her diligence, compassion, and patience. She brings the same attention and energy to every patient who walks through the door and is eager to provide careful guidance and expertise. In addition to these qualities, Dr. Velasquez is bilingual in English and Spanish and speaks French at a work-proficient level.
In her spare time, Dr. Velasquez enjoys reading, going on walks, attending classical music concerts, and keeping up with her family's (husband John, daughter Daniela, and son Nicolas) love for tennis. She also enjoys traveling, learning about new cultures, and improving her "limited" cooking skills.
